My
Leo journey started from 2011 Dec. 30. I still remember the first day I went in
the club meeting. Standing in front of those all leo members and giving my
intro and wishing all members, a jubilant New Year 2012. It was fine. Slowly I became
close with all members and Leo Kirti Raj Tiwari and Leo Santosh Majakoti has
always been a great mentor to me. Things started to go somehow different after
wards. New enthusiasm in me started towards social service and it was all
because of Leo Club of Bharatpur.
The
enthusiasm was not into action unless I participated in a workshop conducted by
UNYSAN on 31st May, 2012 where I was among 50 participants selected
from all over Nepal. It was workshop entitled “Educating youth on Disaster Risk
Reduction”. After I returned back home, I talked to the club in a meeting about
my motivation and will to do a similar workshop in Chitwan and finally we
succeeded and carried out the same in my home district Chitwan as well and
it was National Workshop with International Resource persons. I am always thankful to Leo Kirti Raj Tiwari and Lion
Devendra Raj Regmi as it was the output of their motivation. That day changed
my height in Leoism and I started feeling some strength in me.
The
leadership I practiced in Leoism drowned me towards the establishment of Alumni
Association of SOS HGS Bharatpur where I completed my higher secondary
education and I as a founder president established it with all leadership that
I learnt from my Leo Club and now I am running Project Library from the same Alumni Association.
A
normal student to a norma Leo member to Coordinating National Workshop on “Educating
Youth on DRR” to Mr. Leo Nepal 2013 to Founder President of SOS HGS Alumni
Association Bharatpur to Secretary of Leo Club of Bharatpur and coordinating “Earth
2100 Satellite Conference” for the first time in Nepal in collaboration with
Our Task, US, Arlington; these all leadership I learnt from Leo Club of
Bharatpur.
Now
you may have guessed who I am. Yes, this is Leo Bikal Ghimire. After I was handed over
the responsibility as a Club Secretary for L/Y 2014/15, the first thing that
stroke my mind was creating the official blog of my club so that we can keep on
posting about our various programs. We do send monthly EMPR regularly but after
reading the EMPR once no one takes pleasure to check the mail, download the
previous EMPR and read it again. But if I create a blog and keep all activities
and programs posted, it’s good to click the link http://bharatpurleo.blogspot.com/ and at once all activities of our
club can be reached by anyone in any corner of the world having internet access
and with this thought I created this blog and started accomplishing my responsibility
as a Secretary.
People
say me, there might be lots of International fund in your club, wont you earn
money from it, what you get from your club, why you waste your time in club,
this and that. But we are not a fund filled organization, we are totally
volunteering organization. We don’t even earn a single penny rather we spend our own for various services of less fortunate people but from this very
club I earned thousands of people all around Nepal who know me as Leo Bikal.
From this very organization I developed a good leadership in me, and from this
very organization I became a social server which gives me a mere satisfaction in
heart and soul.
